Top U.S. Medical Groups Speak Out: ‘We Won’t Stay Silent on Vaccines’

We are your doctors — the ones you rely on to care for you and your loved ones from infancy to old age. Whether it’s a newborn’s first checkup, care during pregnancy, or managing chronic illness later in life, we are the professionals at your side. We include family physicians, pediatricians, internists, OB-GYNs, and infectious disease specialists. Our focus is not on politics or headlines, but on your health and safety — always guided by the best scientific evidence.

And today, we have a clear and urgent message for the public:
Vaccines are safe, effective, and essential.

Immunizations are one of the most powerful tools in modern medicine. They have saved countless lives and nearly wiped out diseases that once devastated communities. Smallpox, polio, and other once-common threats are now rare or gone — thanks to widespread vaccination.

Yet, this progress is now under serious threat.

Misinformation, political interference, and frequent changes to national vaccine recommendations are confusing the public and eroding confidence in science. With the approach of another fall season — bringing increased cases of flu, COVID-19, and RSV, as well as alarming resurgences of measles and whooping cough — the need for accurate information and strong public health efforts has never been greater.

These viruses are not distant dangers. They are here and affecting the most vulnerable among us: babies, the elderly, people with chronic conditions, and pregnant individuals. Every day, we see the consequences firsthand.

We’re there when a child struggles to breathe due to RSV or pertussis. We care for pregnant patients facing severe complications from the flu or COVID-19. We treat older adults hospitalized with diseases that could have been prevented by a vaccine.

These are real people — your family, your neighbors, your coworkers. And they are the reason we do what we do.

In times of confusion, patients turn to their doctors. They count on us to separate fact from fiction and guide them through the noise of social media, misinformation, and politicized rhetoric.

Let us be perfectly clear:
We will continue to recommend vaccines.
We will keep having meaningful conversations with patients in our offices, in schools, and in our communities about how vaccines protect individuals and help create healthier populations through immunity.

We also urge our partners — hospitals, insurance companies, pharmacies, and public health organizations — to ensure vaccines are readily available and affordable to everyone, regardless of age or income. Any obstacle to immunization is a danger to public health.

We’ve already seen what happens when vaccination rates decline. Outbreaks follow. Diseases that had nearly disappeared return with serious consequences. These are not theoretical risks — they are measurable, preventable tragedies.

That’s why we won’t remain silent. We’ll continue engaging with lawmakers and speaking out to protect our patients and communities. We’ll keep helping families sort through the confusion and make informed decisions. And we’ll lead — not just by treating illness, but by championing public health rooted in evidence.

Our organizations are working together to provide clear guidance and dependable resources in a time when misinformation is rampant and trust in institutions is wavering.

The country needs consistent, evidence-based leadership now more than ever. Vaccines do more than shield individuals — they protect entire communities. With widespread immunization, we keep schools open, workplaces functioning, and hospitals focused on emergencies, not avoidable illnesses.

We refuse to take chances with the health of our communities. The science is clear. The evidence is overwhelming. Vaccines work.

This is a moment for unity, clarity, and courage. We stand firm in support of immunization and the scientific advancements that have saved millions of lives.

We’re committed. We’re present. And we won’t stop advocating for your health.
